5 Things to Know About Your In-Home Newborn Session – Omaha Newborn Photographer

In-home sessions are baby led

What does that mean? That means your baby is in charge and gets to dictate how the session goes. If they want to be held, they get held. If they need fed, you can feed them all in the comfort of your own home. We do not do anything that your baby doesn’t want to do. That leads to less stress on them and on you. And that leads to you being more relaxed and enjoying the whole experience that much more.

Do not be intimidated by taking pictures in your house

In-home newborn sessions can be daunting to someone who doesn’t know what to expect. But trust me when I say they aren’t as bad as you imagine in your head. We typically stick to the living area, the nursery and primary bedroom. That said, we don’t have to use all of those spaces. We can just use one or pick a couple. Whatever you are most comfortable with. Also keep in mind that I shoot super close up so you aren’t going to see the entire house in the pictures.

Yes! Your furry family can be included!

Your pets are part of the family too. Let them be included in in-home newborn sessions too! We will include them as much as they want to be included. They can be a part of the cuddles and kisses of the new baby. Obviously we will make sure that your baby’s safety is our #1 priority and, as mentioned first, the session is baby led so we will only do what baby wants as well.

In-home sessions are actually less work for you

You just had a baby. You are learning to navigate this new life. Let’s be real, the last thing you want to do is load up a newborn and head out to do something. Having your session in your home means you have everything you need for you and your baby and you don’t have to worry about making sure you pack everything you might need. Not to mention that our session will consist of you sitting and cuddling your baby so very little you have to worry about and do.

It’s all about connection

All of a sudden you have this baby and your life as you know it is disrupted. Your brain is foggy because everything you just went through, not to mention your lack of sleep from having a newborn too, and it’s no shock you can feel disconnected with your partner. I always tell my clients that your in-home newborn session is really the first time that you can catch your breath and reconnect with your partner. You get to take this time to sink into each other as a new family and those times are the times you want to remember.
