Personal Project – Omaha Documentary Photographer

When we moved a year ago, I had searched endlessly trying to find the perfect bedding for my daughter’s room. I didn’t want it to childish or too mature. I just couldn’t find the right balance anywhere. Until I stumbled upon a gorgeous quilt design on Etsy. I was not willing to pay the $500 for the quilt but lucky enough the lady sold the quilt pattern. YAY me, right? Nope. I don’t know a thing about sewing!! I remember in junior high I traded my (male) partner for him to do our sewing projects then I did our engineering projects. It was quite the plan we had. So I begged and pleaded with my mom to do it for me. (Let’s be honest, all I did was show my mom and she fell in love with it and knew there’s nothing else the Miss could have so she knew what had to be done.) Us three girls shopped so many fabric stores finding the perfect combination of fabrics and colors. Pink, purple and turquoise…could it be anything else?

Even though I joke that it was my fault that my mom was dragged into doing this tedious task of making this quilt (don’t worry, I put in my share of hours too!), I truly believe it was one of my mom’s favorite experiences. Being able to make something for her grand daughter, that will without a doubt last her a lifetime, was so special for my mom. Special isn’t even a good enough word. An extremely rewarding experience for both my mom and my daughter.

I can’t wait to show her the next project I have in mind! 😉
